Disley Parish Council has received information from Cheshire East Council Highways that there are two separate road closures imminent for Buxton Old Road in Disley.
A6 to Mudhurst Lane junction
This 5-day closure was originally due to commence on 13th August 2021 but was postponed at the last minute due to “Covid restrictions and resource availability.” The closure was to carry out much-needed Level 2 patching.
Cheshire East had hoped to complete the works towards the end of August, but this has not happened. The Parish Council has been assured that once a date has been confirmed, Cheshire East will send a letter to all affected residents. The Parish Council is aware that the original signage is still in place and has requested that this be removed to avoid confusion. The Cheshire East Council closure notice for this work states that, “vehicular access will be maintained for emergency vehicles and residents where possible.” The original closure was due to be between 9.30am and 3.30pm each day with a diversion route in operation. It is hoped that this will remain the case for the rescheduled work.
Update: Cheshire East Highways have confirmed that the patching programme is now due to re-start at the end of September and that resident letters will be sent out in due course with the proposed dates.
From Mudhurst Lane junction to Redmoor Lane junction.
This is a 6-week closure from Monday 6th September 2021 until approx. Friday 15th October 2021 and the closure will be in force 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The closure is to allow for the urgent, safety-critical repair of a retaining wall at Byron House and to replace a timber parapet. Cheshire East Highways have confirmed that the nature of the works requires a full road closure to ensure the safety of the public and the workforce. The road signage contains contact details for the Traffic Management Supervisor should there be any problems during the works. A diversion route will be in operation.
The Parish Council will continue to liaise with Cheshire East Council regarding these closures and update residents as soon as possible.
