Library Opening Hours Consultation

In November 2017 Cheshire East Council proposed closing the three smallest libraries in the borough, including Disley.   As a result of responses received via an online survey, emails and letters, the proposal to close libraries has been reviewed and the library will now remain open.  However, financial pressures on Cheshire East mean savings will still need to be made and it is recommended to achieve this through reducing the opening hours from 25 hours to 20 hours per week and revising the staffing levels.

Using feedback received as part of the pre-budget consultation process and the 2016 Library Survey, Cheshire East is proposing a new pattern of opening which will:

·       provide access over more days than currently

·       provide a more memorable pattern of hours

·       accommodate the majority of existing activities

From Monday 4th June 2018 the library opening hours will be:

Day Time Groups using the community facility
Monday Closed
Tuesday 9.00 – 1.00 Toddler group
Wednesday 9.00 – 1.00 Cuppa & chat
Thursday 2.00 – 6.00 Rhymetime in the Library (change to existing)
Friday 2.00 – 6.00 Book group, Lego Club in the Library
Saturday 9.00 – 1.00 Coffee morning

Cheshire East are requesting resident feedback to these hours either by completion of one of the feedback forms available at the library or by email to:

mailto:Joanne.shannon@cheshireeast.gov.uk.

Please respond by 03rd April 2018.
