Disley Train Station users are to benefit from improved rail connections to Manchester. From late May 2018, Northern is increasing the number of trains on the route to two an hour, significantly increasing capacity on one of the busiest lines into the city.
Disley Parish Council, the Friends of Disley Station (FODS) and local MP, David Rutley have been working with Northern for some time to secure improved services for Disley Station.
The improvements will not just benefit commuters, they will give visitors more options when travelling to Disley to visit local shops and eateries, go to Lyme Park or walk the Gritstone Trail etc.
The improvements come as part of Northern’s May 2018 timetable changes which are paving the way for the modernisation of the railway and the introduction of 2,000 extra services each week by 2020. Unfortunately, due to delays in the delivery of the Manchester to Preston electrification, it has been necessary to postpone some of the improvements Northern had hoped to deliver.
